Dr. Crighton outlined three chief reasons for the failure of the Arab Spring – the new governments’ “substantial lack of political capacity”, the military obstacle in front of democracy, and the largely fragmented opposition groups in Egypt, Syria, Libya, and the other countries in the MENA region.
